We went on Christmas Eve, which was very busy. Our ride was rescheduled by from the original time we booked. When we arrived it was a rushed flurry because of issues with another group getting lost. The owner was very stressed and it affected the enjoyment of our tour significantly. We spent about 15 minutes with the dogs and then 40 sledding and 15 afterwards to drink coco. The price was $550 for 2 of us in one sled. Although a unique experience when your sledding it's very expensive and no care was given to maximize guests experience. In addition the owner kicked at and cussed at a dog while we were loading them. There were also 2 dogs that had health issues while we were there. Fortunately, a staff driver (Ethan) was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable so we over heard him tell his group lots of cool information. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience with our driver. 5 stars for the dogs, 1 star for customer service and management.
Amazing, once in a lifetime experience! Sweetest dogs! Very interactive!
I have been on numerous tours to Eden Dog Sledding and every time it's a new and awesome experience. It hands on learning and education about the dogs, how to properly hitch them up to prepare for a tour. There is a HUGE amount of effort that goes into this kind of business. From my observations on every tour, it's very organized, and carefully planned, not only when to take the tour but what dogs will be used to give you the best possible experience. There's a lot of dedication & hard work into this and being there's such a great demand during the winter months and especially the holiday season, you need to make sure you call WELL in advance. This is not something that can just be planned spur of the moment. The owner works extremely hard and it is NOT an easy job that he has. He cares for his dogs very much and devotes himself to them. From visiting for many years, some of the dogs have gotten older that had given us sled rides so it's kind of sad to see them that way after getting to know them over a number of years. It's a very hard job, not easy at all and for people who don't know what goes on behind the scenes and the amount of time and planning that goes in this business and a tour, you really need to educate yourself. It's educational, it's great for the entire family and I highly recommend this to anyone. It's well worth the amount you pay for a tour. The owner cares about his guests and his dogs. We'll be back year after year. Awesome experience.
Eden Ethical Dog Sledding Rocks!!!! I was so thrilled to finally be able to visit Aslan, Llewellyn, Ben and Jerry and the rest of the UN-Chained Gang in Eden Mills, VT. The dogs are the best to cuddle with! My friend and I learned to hands on harness and hitch the sled dogs to the sled. Its hard to believe these wonderful dogs are also international sled dog champions who win so many races! I loved the trails! But perhaps the best is the way these sled dogs are kept - - no lives on short chains and all are retired. YES - there were elderly dogs - but they are kept as part of the pack to enjoy being around other dogs and people, hanging out on couches. Most people don't realize that sled dog racers and companies can euthanize for any reason and most dogs don't receive a retirement with veterinary care - - I do not want to go to a place that chains or kills their dogs. I have had dogs all my life and have not met better cared for dogs. This is a great place for children and adults!
I wonderful and friendly place to experience something unique like dogsledding
